This Accounting Alert follows an earlier IFRS Viewpoint entitled "Accounting for Cryptocurrencies - The Basics" which was issued on May 17, 2018.
Accounting for Cryptocurrencies
Accounting for cryptocurrency assets does not fit easily within the IFRS framework. For reasons which we will explain, our view is that in the majority of cases, it will be appropriate to account for them in accordance with IAS 38 ‘Intangible Assets’ either at cost or at revaluation.
IFRS Alert: Amendment to IAS 19 - Plan Amendment, Curtailment or Settlement
The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) has published ‘Plan Amendment, Curtailment or Settlement (Amendments to IAS 19)’. The amendments require companies to use updated actuarial assumptions to determine pension expenses following changes to a defined benefit pension plan.
