Thriving Through the Seasons: Anna’s Shared Journey of Success with P&A Grant Thornton

Much like how the seasons change, Anna grows relentlessly like a leaf in spring, with the Firm as her roots.

My journey with P&A Grant Thornton began when I applied to the Firm’s DPC (Document Processing Center), as I am a Computer Science graduate. While there were no openings at that time, I was offered a temporary position as an Executive Assistant to Greg Navarro, who was then an Audit Partner. This temporary role extended as Greg advanced from Audit Partner to Audit Head, then Managing Partner, and eventually CEO. Greg retired and was succeeded by Marivic Espano, who was later succeeded by our current Chairman, Boyet Murcia.

Just like the changing of seasons, the Firm has undergone significant changes over the years.  Among them is the adoption of technological advancements which enhance work processes. Having been with P&A Grant Thornton for nearly three decades, I had the privilege of serving under three different CEOs. Each leadership transition brought new challenges and opportunities, and I am proud to have been a part of the Firm’s success through these changes. My long-standing commitment to P&A Grant Thornton reflects not only my dedication but also the supportive and inspiring environment that the Firm provides.

Despite going through reformations, one thing that remained in the Firm was its commitment to its core values and its family-oriented culture.  Our work environment fosters a sense of belonging and support among colleagues, making it feel less like a workplace and more like a second home. P&A Grant Thornton has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth.  The Firm provides a nurturing environment that encourages continuous learning and development. Through various training programs, coaching and mentoring opportunities, I have been able to enhance my skills and expand my knowledge.

On a personal level, the supportive culture at P&A Grant Thornton has helped me build strong relationships with my colleagues, fostering a sense of community and belonging.  This positive atmosphere has boosted my confidence and allowed me to thrive both inside and outside work.  Knowing that I have a strong support system behind me has been a constant source of comfort and motivation.  It reminds me to stay humble and grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had.

Growing professionally and personally in the Firm, one important lesson I’ve learned is that “Work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do." This profound insight emphasizes the importance of finding passion and purpose in your career to achieve true fulfillment. When you love what you do, kahit anong trabaho pa yan, time flies by without you even noticing. Ang bilis ng panahon, I can’t believe I’ll be celebrating my 30th year at P&A Grant Thornton this year!

As we continue to evolve and adapt to the changing landscape of the professional services industry, I am confident that the Firm will not only achieve the top position but also maintain its reputation for delivering exceptional services. It is my hope that future generations will carry forward the legacy of P&A Grant Thornton, upholding the standards and traditions that have made P&A today.  With the unwavering support of our team and the guidance of our leaders, I am excited to see the Firm's continued success and lasting impact on the industry.
